Lee Do Restaurant...

With a rich history dated all the way back to 1963, Lee Do Restaurant is one of the few traditional Fuzhou restaurant left in Singapore. Best known for its Cold Crab, Lee Do Restaurant has never once changed or modified its dishes as they strongly believe in the importance of preserving and retaining traditional Fuzhou recipes. Even though they have a pool of regulars, it’s disheartening to know that there’s lesser younger people appreciating this form of cuisine nowadays.

The design & setting of Lee Do Restaurant not only give off a strong 90s vibes, it also evokes a sense of family kinship. Nestled at Ubi, this is one restaurant you and your family should visit for a good and authentic Fuzhou cuisine.

Lee Do Cold Crab // $31 (per piece)
Cold Crab is a rare sight in Singapore. The common or more popular ones would definitely be the Chilli Crab and the Black Pepper Crab. You can only find Cold Crab in a traditional Fuzhou restaurant. Like what I have mentioned earlier, Lee Do Restaurant is well-known for their delectable Cold Crab and I have to agree with that. It didn’t have the raw seafood taste, and the meat was firm and juicy. Since there wasn’t really any major seasonings or sauce added to the crab, we can all taste the natural sweetness of the crab. The crab was also super fresh – the meat falls easily from its shell. We couldn’t stop singing praises of this dish. A must-order if you are here!

Honey Pork Ribs // $35 (Large)
Just by looking at the shining glaze on the pork ribs, I knew this dish was going to blow my mind away. They were very generous with the portion! The honey pork ribs were fragrant and well-marinated. It was also very tender! A fellow foodie had to order a bowl of rice to go with the pork ribs because it was so addictive. It’s hard to control your diet when the smell is already so deadly.

Lee Do Prawn Rolls // $25 (Large)
Prawn rolls were generously stuffed with prawn fillings and the fillings were very flavourful. The firm and tender prawn fillings went very well with the crispy skin. Dip it into the mayo for maximum pleasure.

Fuzhou Steamed Cabbage // $18
The steamed cabbage was not too bad. It was soft but I thought the sauce was a little too bland for my liking. If you don’t like flavours that are too strong, you will probably like this.

Red Wine Chicken Soup // $28 (Large)
This dish relives the memories of my childhood. As my mum is a Fuzhou ren, she often cook this dish when I was young, especially during my birthday. It’s hard to find this in Singapore, probably only in Malaysia? A comfort food that I really miss! The red wine was strong (after years of fermenting) and it was really well-cooked with the mee sua. The meat was well-marinated and very tender!

Steamed Fish Head // $46
The fish was really good. It was very fresh, well-seasoned and well-cooked. The meat was soft and flavourful. Another dish that needs a bowl of rice.

Sea Cucumber Duck // $40
The sea cucumber duck was surprisingly very tasty. I’m not a huge fan of sea cucumber because of its acquired taste and I was not looking forward to the dish. It turns out that I was wrong. The combination works. The duck was tender and juicy, and the sea cucumber complemented the duck very well.

Fuzhou Fried Noodles // $20 (Large)
The noodles were very fragrant, had a very strong wok-hei flavour. Thankfully, it don’t have this “xiap xiap” taste (subtle bitter aftertaste) which I am always afraid off. This was legit delicious!
