Flavour Flings...

When it comes to trend-setting, Flavour Flings appears in my head immediately. They were the first café to bring in the Salted Egg Croissant craze back to Singapore which later kick-start a series of salted egg inspired dishes all around Singapore. Flavour Flings have pushed the bar up once again by incorporating White Truffle Oil into their newest menu, bound to satisfy your truffle cravings. 


Besides their all-time favourite dishes such as Salted Egg Yolk Fries and Machamp’s Breakfast, Flavour Flings’s special menu which revolves around White Truffle Oil is one to look out for. It also showcases their culinary ability in manipulating and integrating the ingredient into different dishes. The Fling’s Noodles V.2.0 and Garlic Mushroom Bruschetta are two of the newest White Truffle Oil inspired dishes at Flavour Flings.




Salted Egg Yolk Fries // $8.90

House-made Salted Egg Yolk Sauce, Buttered Cereal, Spring Onions.
This was one of the best Salted Egg Yolk Fries I’ve ever come across. It was so addictive that I couldn’t stop myself from finishing it (I also didn’t feel like sharing it because it was that good). The salted egg sauce was rich, creamy and a little sweet. I could easily finish one bowl of rice just by drizzling the sauce onto my rice. The buttered cereal was also good! I mean who doesn’t like buttered cereal? It’s so fragrant and it definitely opens up my appetite! The buttered cereal further adds a crunchy texture to the thick-cut fries. A must-order and I would order one just for myself.



Machamp's Breakfast // $17.90

Garlic Toasts, Pancakes with Honey & Butter, Scrambled Eggs, Sautéed Mushrooms, XL Cheesy Chicken Frank, Salad Greens.
Way before Pokemon Go was out, Flavour Flings already knew that it would be a hit. Naming this dish to a Pokemon creature, this is one hearty dish that allows you to experience sweet and savoury at the same time. The mushrooms were well-seasoned and soft. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and not too milky. The salad greens were refreshing and well-dressed. The chicken frank was not too bad. The only thing that needs to be improved was probably the pancakes. I find it a bit too sweet for my liking but if you have a sweet tooth, you will like it a lot.  



Garlic Mushroom Bruschetta // $9.90

Garlic Toast, White Truffle Infused Mushroom Caviar, Tomato Cubes, Parmesan Cheese, Spring Onions.
The truffle smell was really strong and aromatic. We could already smell it when it came out from the kitchen. The garlic toast was still very crispy even though we left it on the table for 15 minutes. The mushrooms were well-seasoned with the truffle oil. It was strong but not too overpowering. The tomato cubes were also fresh and crunchy. 



Fling's Noodles V.2.0. // $14.50

Fettucine Pasta, Garlic White Cream, Poached Egg, Wild Mushrooms, White Truffle Oil, Parmesan Cheese and Spring Onions
The pasta was rich and creamy but it was not too jelat.  The poached egg was on point, still running even we took a while to take photos. The truffle flavour was not as strong as the bruschetta but it was still very aromatic. Very yummy!


Creme Brulee // $6.90

The crème brûlée was well-torched, especially the crispy caramelised layer on top. Not the most Instagram-worthy dessert but the taste is top-notch. 


Sundae Bowl // $9.90

You get to choose two ice cream of your choice. We had the Vanilla and Thai milk tea ice cream. The ice cream was rich and creamy but it was a little too icy. Overall, this is a good dessert to have amidst the hot weather.
