The Bakery Chef...

Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner. This year, as usual, we see different establishments battling their wits out to create the most creative and delicious mooncakes to appeal to the larger public. From unique flavours to even lava mooncakes, we are spoilt for choices. At the Bakery Chef, where lava toast was first born, they have their own rendition of mooncakes as well. They have recently launched their Cheesecake-inspired mooncakes which comes in six different flavours – Yellow: White Lotus Paste, Purple: Honey Purple Potato, Pink: Red Wine Berries, Green: Matcha with Red Bean, Black: Chocolate Sesame with Crunchy Pearls and Orange: White Lotus Paste with Salted Egg Yolk. Also, they have introduced two new lava toasts (Mao Shan Wang Lava Toast & Date Pudding with Toffee Lava Toast) into their collection which I will be sharing in this blog post.

In frame, Mao Shan Wang Lava Toast and Date Pudding with Toffee Lava Toast.

Mao Shan Wang Lava Toast // $13.80

Durian-lovers will sure fall in love with Bakery Chef’s Mao Shan Wang Lava Toast. It was very aromatic (The durian smell lingers across the kitchen). The toast was well-toasted (the edges were not burnt), and it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Mao Shan Wang flavour was really strong and well-balanced in each toast. The lava was rich, creamy and addictive. I also liked how the durian flavour still retains in my mouth after each bite. The vanilla ice cream was also a good complement. A must order at the Bakery Chef!

Look at the amount of lava oozing out from the toast! Durian-lovers will definitely be blown away by this toast!

Date Pudding with Toffee Lava Toast // $13.80

As usual, the toast was done pretty well. The sticky date pudding was soft and moist. I didn’t expect it to go so well with the toffee sauce as it wasn’t very dry and sweet.

The Bakery Chef's Mooncakes // $42.10 for a box of 4 mooncakes

The cheesecake-inspired mooncakes tasted very similar to snow-skin mooncakes but each of them has a strong cheese flavour and a crust at a bottom. My favourites were definitely the Matcha-flavoured and Black sesame-flavoured ones. The flavours were distinct and the cheese did further augment the whole flavour of the mooncakes. Very creative and impressive. If you guys want something special this Mid-Autumn Festival, then you have to purchase these delightful cheesecake-inspired mooncakes from the Bakery Chef! Oh, and before I forget, these mooncakes are required to be placed in the freezer in order to remain fresh!

Thank you the Bakery Chef for having us again and for the lovely box of mooncakes!
