Joe & Dough...

"The powers of a man's mind is directly proportioned to the quantity of coffee he drinks." - James Machintosh

Do you know that coffee is actually very beneficial to the human body? Research has shown that coffee can improve energy levels and make you smarter, help to burn fats, reduce the risks of contracting chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes, but most importantly, coffee can fight depression and make you happier.

It is not easy to brew a good cup of coffee. From choosing the right coffee beans to the process of brewing it, there are so many factors to consider in order to achieve the perfect brew or coffee. The coffee appreciation session held at Joe & Dough in Kallang Leisure Park expanded my amateurish knowledge on coffee as well as allow me to better appreciate coffee. I also got the chance to do my first latte art which I failed miserably (photo of my failed latte art at the end of my blog post).

Besides serving nice coffee, Joe & Dough also offers a wide range of delicious gourmet sandwiches and pastries which are wallet-friendly. It is therefore the place to enjoy a good cup of coffee and also do show some love and support for our very own local start-up.

In frame, Soy Hazelnut Latte, Matcha Latte, Lemon Tart & Mushroom & Grilled Bellpeppers Sandwich. Of course, we had to satisfy our stomach before our experience as a Barista begins. Also, the coffee at Joe & Dough is worth mentioning because they are insanely huge and so value for money.

The lemon tart was really good. I loved the subtle sour aftertaste the lemon tart has and the tart was also crispy.
The matcha latte was my favourite. It was not too sweet and very soothing. A must-order!

“Coffee is real good when you drink it – it gives you time to think. It’s a lot more than just a drink; it’s something happening.” – Gertrude Stein

Steps to make a good coffee

 1) Grind the coffee beans from the coffee machine (Brush away the excess coffee powder residue using your index finger)
2) Place it into the coffee machine and pull down the handle
3) A fresh and good coffee should have crema
4) Steam the milk
5) The easiest form of Latte Art starts with a 'Dot' as the design
6) I drew an amateurish bear for my latte (Okay, the Barista helped me! A bit only!).

Expectation VS Reality -  Look at how beautiful the latte art the Barista drew on the coffee as compared to my failed latte art! It really requires a whole load of years of experience to be able to achieve this standards.

If you like the coffee at Joe & Dough, their coffee beans are available for buying!
Thank you Joe & Dough, and the PR Salon for the kind invitation and Adrian for your guidance. Now, I will appreciate my coffee a little better!
