SBCD Korean Tofu House....

Three years ago, I had the best Korean tofu soup in Sinchon, Seoul. Just last week, I had a similar, if not better tofu soup at SBCD Korean Tofu House. As its name suggests, SBCD Korean Tofu House is Singapore’s first-ever Korean restaurant that offers Soontofu which is a type of jjigae (Korean stew), consisting of freshly curdled tofu, meat/seafood & egg served in a hot stone pot. The tofu are freshly made every morning at 7am.

Other than specialising in tofu stews, SBCD also serves impressive Spicy BBQ Pork, Spicy Grilled Chicken, & Seafood Pancake. Their Seafood Pancake bear a resemblance to the one I had in Dongdaemun Shopping Mall which I dearly missed. Even though the prices at SBCD are a tad high, the quality and quantity of its dishes make it very value-for-money. The side dishes alone (which comes with every mains ordered) are already worthy of every penny you spend there.

Located at Tanjong Pagar Centre, SBCD Korean Tofu House is one new restaurant that you must visit to get your Korean cravings fixed because personally, it is one of the best Korean restaurant in Singapore I’ve tried so far.

Satisfy your Korean cravings at SBCD Korean Tofu House!

Their side dishes were really impressive, especially the fish! Comes with every mains purchased! Super worth it!

My favourite Makgeolli to go with all the food. The alcoholic taste wasn’t really strong and I guess the ladies will love this because it was sweet.

Ham & Cheese // $19.90
This combination might sound weird but trust me, it works perfectly! Needless to say, the tofu was so soft and silky that it literally melts in the mouth. I was quite worried about the ham being too soggy but it turned out to be fine. After absorbing the flavour of the broth, the soggy ham was flavourful and addictive. The melted cheese, on the other hand, definitely complemented the ham and soup very well. A must-try!

Sesame // $17.90
This is the only vegetarian dish available at the restaurant. The soup, of course, has a strong sesame flavour which hits right at the beginning after taking a sip of the soup. It later dissolves and the “veggies” flavour starts to linger in the mouth. To be honest, I’m not really a veggie person but I’m willing to finish one-fourth of it. I believe the vegetarians will love it but I would still prefer my Ham & Cheese.

Assorted // $19.90
The soup was flavourful (with all the seafood being cooked together for hours) and very rich. It was refreshing and sweet (from the flower crab, prawns and clams). They were very generous with the seafood they gave. Mixed with the runny egg, you would want to order a bowl of white rice to go with it. I would highly recommend you to get this!

Prawn Tofu Pancake // $19.90
My eyes were wide open when I took a small bite of the Prawn Tofu. Even though the flavour wasn’t really strong, the texture was so good. I don’t have a better word to describe it. It was simply delicious. By the way, it was huge!

Korean Seafood Pancake // $19.90
As I mentioned earlier, the Korean Seafood Pancake tasted very similar to the one I had in Dongdaemun. It was still crispy even though I left it on the table for quite a while. They were generous with the amount of shrimps and squid they mixed in the pancake. Dip the pancake into the specially-made sauce and my life is complete!

Spicy Grilled Chicken // $25.90
The chicken was well-marinated, flavourful and tender. It wasn’t spicy hot, but spicy sweet. We finished everything in no time. It was that good!

LA Galbi // $25.90
The pork ribs were very flavourful (subtle smoky flavour) but it was too tough for me. I had such a hard time trying to chew the meat off the bone. It was really a pity because the pork ribs were so well-marinated!

Thank you SBCD and Quandoo for inviting me. You can book your reservation at SBCD Korean Tofu Restaurant via the Quandoo App!
