(NEW) O Chicken & Beer: New Korean Restaurant for Fried Chicken & Beer Opens at Boat Quay

O Chicken & Beer...

What’s the first thing that comes into your mind when you think about Korea? Plastic Surgery? Kpop? Probably but for me, Beer & Chicken are the two things that popped straight into my head when I think about Korea. You can find them almost everywhere, maybe even more frequent than Mcdonald’s. The six months that I stayed in Korea (university exchange programme), the bulk of it revolves around ordering Beer & Chicken for supper. Even after an intensive session in the gym, we will still head to a small eatery outside our school for Beer & Chicken. It was an important memory of my exchange in Seoul.

I was so excited when I found out that a new Korean restaurant – O Chicken & Beer opened their doors at Boat Quay a month ago. Not only are they selling an extensive range of different flavoured Fried Chicken, they also offer many other popular Korean dishes. On top of that, they also serve a range of Korean beers, in particular Kloud which is the hottest beer in Korea right now! Alongside with the scenic view of Boat Quay, the whole dining experience was very memorable. Trust me, this is a place you MUST visit! P/s: the Korea lady boss was also super friendly and humorous!

Am I in Korea? It definitely felt like I was because the spread reminded me of my exchange days in Korea. The ingredients are freshly flown from Korea (except the chicken) and are cooked according to Korean methods. In frame, Hameul Pajeon, Fried Chicken, Yang Nyum Chicken, Boneless Pa Dak, Carbonara Chicken, Soup Dduk Bok Ki, Beers & Grape Soju. Still having a major food coma!

Some pictures of O Chicken & Beer. The place is really nice! View at the Alfresco area is stunning!

Hite ($6.90++) // Cass (6.90++) // Kloud (6.90++)
A good range of different Korean beers and flavoured soju to choose from. Kloud is more on the sweeter spectrum (ladies will love it). Hite is a bit lighter, very similar to Corona. Cass is the heaviest with the taste very similar to Tiger. The grape-flavoured soju caught me by surprise because it was very refreshing and smooth. Alcoholic flavour wasn’t very strong.

Grape Soju // $19.80++
This was very addictive because we went shot after shot. It was sweet and aromatic. The alcoholic flavour wasn’t very strong but the alcoholic kicks in straight at the end. I love it!

This was my favourite beer, sweeter as compared to the rest. You must try this wheat beer even if you aren’t a beer drinker! I think you will like it!

Yang Nyum Chicken // $16.80++ (Half) & $30.80++ (Full)
The Yang Nyum Chicken is the spicy (red) one in the picture. It wasn’t very spicy but you can feel the kick slowly coming in at the end. The chicken was well-marinated with the sauce not overly sweet. Chicken was finger-licking good! I have to steal the KFC tagline because the chicken here are a notch higher than KFC!

Fried Chicken // $15.80++ (Half) & $28.80++ (Full)
The chicken was still very crispy when it was left on the table for a few hours. Not kidding or exaggerating, it was legit still crispy. My eyes popped when we bite the chicken after an hour and a half! It was also very well-marinated. Chicken was super juicy! Dapao some home for my mum and she fell in love with them instantly!

Carbonara Chicken // $16.80++ (Half) & $31.80++ (Full)
Initially, I thought the sauce was going to be very sweet and jelat but I was wrong. This happens to be my favourite chicken dish. The carbonara sauce was fragrant and addictive, complemented the chicken very well. A MUST TRY!

Boneless Pa Dak // $16.80++ (Half) & $29.80++ (Full)
The chicken was still as good but if you prefer the addition of spring onions to enhance the flavour, then you will like it. Not a fan of spring onions, so I’ll just stick with the regular fried chicken!

Soup Dduk Bok Ki // $14.80
They were very generous with the servings of spicy rice cake, fish cake and vegetables. The flavour was strong and the sauce was really spicy (but shiok). If you can’t take spicy, you might want to skip this! But I highly recommend you to try this!

Haemul Pajeon // $18.80++
The seafood and spring onion pancake was surprisingly delicious! I’m not a huge fan of spring onions but this combination was not bad! The portion is huge as well! Definitely meant for sharing!

Salmon Salad
The salmon was fresh and the sauce was so addictive. It goes very well with the salmon. Simple yet so delicious!

O Chicken & Beer impressed me on so many different levels. Food definitely surpassed my expectations and the service was so point! You can spend some quality time with your friends and families here while feasting!

A short video clip that summarises the food I had at O Chicken & Beer. This is one new Korean restaurant that’s worth visiting!

Creamery Boutique Ice Cream...

The popular Creamery Boutique Ice Cream from Bangkok is finally here in Singapore. Known for their delectable molten lava cookies and ice cream, Creamery Boutique Ice Cream is the perfect place to satisfy your dessert cravings. Situated along Tyrwhitt Road, this is one dessert café you must visit in the summer!

Everything is made in-house! Also, they will having a Salted Egg Lava Cookie soon! Can’t wait!

Matcha Lava Cookie with Secret Garden Ice Cream
The Matcha Lava Cookie is to die for if you are a hard-core Matcha fan like me! It was so therapeutic watching the matcha sauce oozing out from the cookie. The matcha was rich and has a subtle bitter aftertaste which went well with the floral Secret Garden ice cream. This was legit delicious!

Chocolate Lava Cookie with Milo Dinosaur Ice Cream
Chocolate-lovers will be exhilarating with joy! Besides the oozing chocolate sauce, the Milo Dinosaur ice cream was aromatic and rich. It was topped with Milo powder which enhanced the ice cream flavour. Very addictive!

Brownie with Black Pearl Ice Cream
No oozing sauce but this brownie captured my heart with just one small bite. The brownie was rich, moist and very chocolatey. It wasn’t as jelat as what I thought it was going to be, but if it is, eat it with the ice cream. The Black Pearl ice cream was aromatic and has a subtle alcoholic flavour which complement the ice cream very well.

Red Velvet Lava Cookie with Banofee Ice Cream
Cream Cheese flowing out from the Red Velvet Lava Cookie was insane. You have a combination of both sweet and salty which was very pleasurable to the taste buds. The Banofee (new) ice cream complemented the cookie very well. Drizzled with caramel sauce, my life is complete.

Get your camera ready because it is so therapeutic watching the lava flowing out from the cookie!

fArt tArtz: Spreading Happiness Around Singapore with Third Outlet at Yishun, Junction 9

fArt tArtz...

Spreading happiness to the North of Singapore, fArt tArtz celebrates the opening of its third outlet at Yishun, Junction 9. Best known for its flatbreads, pastas and jar desserts, fArt tArtz is one of the few cafés that has a high rate of consistency in the quality of their food. The many times that I’ve visited them, I was never once disappointed in their food. fArt tArtz has also proven to be very popular among all ages which has earned them a huge pool of regulars. So, if you are residing in the North, it's time you pay them a visit!

Look at my sumptuous spread at fArt tArtz the other day. Always fond of their flatbreads which are so irresistible! In frame, Mushy Mushroom (Vegan), Teriyaki Chix, Red Caviar Mentai, Bird Nest Bruschetta, Matcha Latte and Minty Fruity.

Matcha Latte // $6.5 or $7.2 (Iced)
The Matcha Latte was rich, with a strong matcha flavour. It was also not overly sweet. They added a balanced amount of milk as well.

Minty Fruity // $4.90
If you are looking for a light and refreshing drink, this detox tea is for you! Mixed with strawberries, grapes and blueberries, this drink is perfect for summer!

Bird Nest Bruschetta // $9.90
Instead of using bread, they substitute it with a crispy yam bowl which were filled with tomatoes, onions, cucumber, garlic and a fresh prawn. I left it on the table for quite a while and the yam bowl was still very crispy. The combination was good, and it was very addictive. I ate three (they are quite big) by myself.

Red Caviar Mentai // $18.90
If you are fan of Mentaiko, you will fall in love with this. They were very generous with the amount of mentai placed in the pasta. It was strong and salty. Pasta was not too soggy or hard. Highly recommended if you are craving for a strong-flavoured pasta!

Mushy Mushroom (Vegan) // $12.90
I never had any problems with their flatbreads, and in fact, I will always order one when I visit them. This was my first time ordering the mushroom one and I instantly fell in love with it. The combination of mushroom and cheese were so deadly. It was also very filling!

Teriyaki Chix // $13.90
The teriyaki chicken was well-marinated, tender and juicy! But I still prefer the mushroom one!

Lava Cake in Jar // $13.90
This was the bomb! I can’t wait to dig in when this was served to our table. How to tackle this? Just go all the way down and scoop it up! The red velvet cake was soft and flavourful, and it definitely paired well with a vanilla ice cream!

A short video clip that shows the food I had at fArt tArtz! Time for you to visit them!

Shake Farm: New Healthy Hideout in the CBD Area

Shake Farm...

Singaporeans are becoming more health-conscious, especially the office people who spent most of their time on the chair doing their work. Let’s admit it! It’s hard for most of us to maintain a regular exercise regime with the amount of workload we have. As such, we compensate by watching our diet very carefully, only consuming clean, healthy and nutritious food.

Located at Robinson Road, Shake Farm is a new healthy hideout that serves an extensive range of salads, toasts, acai bowls and smoothies. If you are a gym fanatic, they also offer protein shakes which saves you from the hassle of preparing one yourself. So, start and end your day right by eating clean and nutritious food at the Shake Farm!

Eating clean prevents you from feeling lethargic during work. You can also snack on these without feeling guilty. In frame, Shake Farm’s The Super Bowl, Egg & Avocado Toast, Fat Fighter Slim Shakes as well as some of their healthy snack bars and superfoods. This meal was extremely satisfying because it was both healthy and delicious at the same time!

Their Slim Shakes comes in two sizes – Medium Shake at $8 & Large Shake at $10. I would highly recommend the larger one because the shakes are delicious and refreshing. Also, if you return the bottle to them, you get a $1 off on your total bill during your next visit.
P/s: Shake Farm promotes an eco-friendly environment!

Fat Fighter // $10
Well-blended with Avocado, Spinach, Kale, Banana, Almonds, Chia Seeds, Coconut Water & Probiotic Greek Yoghurt, this drink is what I need during the scorching hot afternoon. I also liked how each shake has a nutritional value stated clearly on the menu.

Egg & Avocado // $6 for one slice & $10 for two slice
The multi-grain toast was well toasted with the end slightly burnt which was very crispy. The eggs and avocado was definitely well-proportioned and nicely sliced onto the toast. Simple yet so comforting! I can foresee myself ordering the toasts and bringing them back to the office for snacking during teatime!

The Super Bowl // Medium ($9) & Large ($12)
Acai Berry Special Blend Topped with Banana, Blueberries, Strawberries, Toasted Oats & Organic Honey
Acai Bowl has always been one of my favourite food during lunch but there are always so expensive. I was surprised to see Shake Farm selling their acai bowl at such an affordable price. The acai bowl was well-blended and it was not overly sweet. It was refreshing and addictive. One bite and you can’t stop eating! The fruits and oats completed the acai bowl perfectly! A must-try!
