Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant: Feast Like An Emperor with '100 Sichuan Delights, 1 Gastronomic Feast' Buffet till 3rd September 2017

Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant...

Sichuan food has always been one cuisine I long wanted to try but never did. Since I’m not very familiar with Sichuan delicacies, I have a misconception that all Sichuan dishes are fiery hot, oily and salty which deters me from having them. It’s only recently when I tried Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant’s ‘100 Sichuan Delights, 1 Gastronomic Feast’ buffet at PARKROYAL on Beach Road which made me realised that Sichuan cuisine is more than meets the eye. There are more than 26 different flavours in Sichuan cuisine, such as Sichuan Minced Pepper, Exotic Sichuan Sauce and Tomato Sauce.

Exclusively at PARKROYAL on Beach Road, the '100 Sichuan Delights, 1 Gastronomic Feast' will run from now till 3 September 2017 where you can get to enjoy an assortment of 100 delectable and authentic Sichuan À la carte buffet at only $50 per person. Additionally, you can top up another $10 for FREE FLOW Kirin Draft Beer. What are you waiting for? I'm definitely bringing my family and friends for this buffet, and for sure, I'm challenging them to try finishing all 100 dishes because the record (according to the staffs) is kept at 64!

Back by popular demand, Executive Chef Zeng Feng has created yet another 30 new dishes for the buffet. Just look at the insane spread, I don’t know where to start eating. Definitely feels like a feast for the emperor! The buffet was really very value-for-money!

I won’t be sharing all of the dishes here because it will be a surprise if you are having the buffet. Also, the food was so impressive that I had a hard time picking my favourites! Here are some of the dishes that you can expect from the buffet!

Stir-fried Fresh Scallops with Vinegar Sauce
Scallops were really fresh and flavourful. Very addictive!

Noodles in Spicy Minced Meat Sauce
Surprisingly, it was not as spicy as what I’ve expected. The noodles were springy and I really liked the subtle spicy kick at the end.

Stir Fried Prawns with Garlic & Chilli Sauce
Prawns were super crunchy and flavourful!

My favourites were definitely the Crispy Sliced Beef in Sichuan Chilli Oil which got me mouth after mouth because of its strong flavour as well as the tenderness of the beef, also the Diced Chicken with Spicy Chilli Sauce which even if my mouth was numb, I had to eat it, and the Mapo Tofu which was super comforting even though it was very spicy. There is simply too many for me to name because all the dishes were equally impressive! This buffet is a MUST-TRY!

A short video clip that showcases the 100 Sichuan dishes at Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant! Aren’t you tempted?

The Chop House at Vivo City: New Brunch Menu Only Available On The Weekends

The Chop House...

The weekends are becoming very precious to me ever since I’ve started working. To reward myself, I’ll usually head out early in the morning for a nice brunch. Just last week, I brought my mum to The Chop House at Vivo City for a meal and we were both very impressed with their new ‘Boozy Brunch’ promotion!

Exclusively at The Chop House (Vivo City), this Boozy Brunch is only available on the weekends from 11am-4pm. Not only can you expect to see an extensive range of comforting classics, you can also enjoy a 2-hours FREE FLOW Paulaner beers, red and white wines at $48 as well as purchase a bottle of champange at only $88! What a great deal! Coupled with the amazing view at their alfresco area, this is what the weekends should feel like!

I have high expectations of The Chop House since it is the sister outlet of Wooloomooloo Steakhouse and I’m glad it didn’t disappoint! In frame, The Big Breakfast, Baked Eggs – Proscuitto & Creamy Spinach, Egg Royale, Mac & Cheese, Mushroom Risotto with Foie Gras and Australian Grass Fed Tenderloin. I was very satisfied with the meal!

The Chop House is nicely decorated, with a strong rustic vibe. It feels extremely comfortable sitting inside the restaurant.

I prefer sitting at the alfresco area. The sea view is stunning! Very relaxing!

Enjoying my champagne!

My mum got a mocktail since she dislikes alcoholic drink. The drink was very similar to a virgin Lychee Mojito with the lychee and mint well-balanced. Very refreshing! Also, generous servings of the lychee fruits!

Started the meal with a flavourful bowl of seafood soup which comes with a generous servings of sweet clams. The soup was rich and creamy! Crispy garlic breads were added to give more texture to the soup!

Mac & Cheese // $8
For $8, the portion is really huge! The Mac & Cheese at The Chop House is creamier than the ones you usually find but it wasn’t very jelat. Very cheesy as well!

Eggs Royale // $14
The eggs were super runny! It goes very well with the fresh salmon, toast and hollandaise sauce. Simple but very delicious!

Baked Eggs - Proscuitto & Creamy Spinach // $20
Not a huge fan of this dish because I dislike spinach. You might like this but I thought the spinach flavour was too strong! The eggs were cooked beautifully though.

The Big Breakfast // $20
This was definitely my favourite brunch item at The Chop House. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, the bacon was well-seasoned and crispy, the mushrooms were well-sautéed and the pork sausages were flavourful. Can’t really find any fault in this dish! It was hearty indeed!

Mushroom Risotto with Foie Gras // $26
The risotto was flavourful but I thought it could have been cooked longer so that it is not so hard. The foie gras was well-cooked because there wasn’t any game taste and smell. Portion is huge as well.

Australian Grass Fed Sirloin // $34
This was the highlight of my day! The tenderloin was well-marinated and well-cooked. It was tender and super juicy. My mum wasn’t very keen in trying because she didn’t dare to eat medium rare steak because it is a little bloody. So, I cut a small slice for her and she was very impressed. A MUST-ORDER!

Hot Chocolate Brownies // $7
The brownies were not too bad. It was rich and has a subtle bitter aftertaste which I really liked. But I wished the brownies were a little moister.

Sago Gula Melaka
The sago at the bottom wasn’t overly sweet, and it goes very well with the ice cream. You can also add gula melaka to enhance the flavour. My mum loves this!

Jesselton Dental Centre: My ECligner Journey Part (2) - Visible Changes

ECligner Treatment...

If you have been following my ECligner blog post, you may have noticed that I’ve added something to my daily routine! Here’s the link if you have missed out: http://sgcafehopping.blogspot.sg/2017/05/jesselton-dental-centre-my-ecligner.html

I am into my halfway mark of finishing my ECligner treatment and has definitely noticed some visible changes in my teeth, in particular gaps in my lower teeth which make my face a little bigger. It took me some time to get used to it but I know it is going to be worth it. Wondering how my teeth are progressing? Check out the photos below.

Me wearing the ECligner! You may experience a little discomfort at the beginning, but you’ll get used to it eventually. Don’t worry! It’s not painful at all!

My X-Ray result showing my teeth before I wore the Ecligner! It’s crooked at the bottom!

I’m not a Dentist! But! I’ve asked everything I need to know about my journey from my Dentist Dr Amos! Here is how I began my Smile journey.

Featuring my doctor, Dr Amos Ignatius
Unlike all the stories about dentist being witches and monsters, Dr Amos is very humorous, friendly and approachable. His cheerful personality just brightens up your day, and you won’t even remember you are actually in a dental clinic. There’s really nothing to be afraid of as he is also very gentle. I know I am very safe in Dr Amos’s hands.

Initial Stage: X-Ray, Moulding & Treatment Plan

Not a picture of me doing facial, but Dr Amos checking my teeth. The initial stage is really hassle-free. At Jesselton Dental Centre they believe that each person’s well-being starts with good oral health! Before even checking if I am a good candidate for ECligner Dr Amos does a thorough check on all my teeth & Xrays to be sure that my mouth is healthy. I like how they make sure that you can eat and chew without pain before talking about any aesthetic work.

My Dental Xrays, Impression moulds of my teeth (See picture below), Photos of my smile and Dr Amos’s customised treatment plan are sent to Korea Laboratory for fabrication and are created via state-of-the-art digital scans and 3D CAD-CAM technology.

During this time, he will discuss with you the treatment plan in detail. It is very convenient and easy to understand & follow. Now, you just have to wait for the arrival of your ECligner!

Look at how excited I am after seeing my very own ECligners!!

Like what I mentioned earlier, the ECligner comes in sets of Soft, Medium & Hard. The number of set depends on your treatment plan. I’m currently on my sixth set! There’s nothing to worry about! It’s not painful, but you will feel a little discomfort since you are not used to it. Before you even know it, the treatment is over.

To be continued...
