Oxwell & Co...

Have you ever wondered how the Brits celebrate their Christmas? Or in particular what food they eat during this festive season? If you are intrigued and keen to experience a British-styled Christmas meal this year, Oxwell & Co is the place to go. Situated at Ann Siang Hill, Oxwell & Co is a quirky British pub that serves an extensive range of signature British classics as well as unique alcoholic drinks. I was also very fascinated by the interesting ornaments that can be found around the pub. In lieu of Christmas this year, Oxwell & Co has rolled out a special Christmas menu that showcases popular British Christmas dishes which I thought was relatively well-executed.

The Christmas menu was really vibrant and flavourful – definitely in tune with the Christmas theme. It was really hard to pick a favourite because each dish has its own unique selling point. My tummy was very satisfied with the feast. Had a major food coma!

Mushroom Soup // $16
Mushroom soup was rich and flavourful. The flavour was well-balanced and it was not too heavy. Dip the truffle brioche into the soup to achieve maximum pleasure. Oh ya, the soup was finished in no time!

Cold Cuts // $18
What’s Christmas without a platter of hams? The hams were nicely sliced and well-marinated. A good starter before the real meat feast begins! Bread was nice as well.

Beet Cured Salmon // $18
Simple but very memorable. Salmon was fresh and literally melts in the mouth, and it pairs very well with the nicely-textured sourdough bread.

Fig & Stilton // $22
If you belongs to the health-conscious crowd, you should order this! The salad was really well-mixed and very refreshing.  Also, I really liked the blue cheese  in the salad which was not too overpowering.

Honey Glazed Wings // $16
The wings were really impressive. It was aromatic (the smell was already deadly aromatic when the server was carrying it) and well-marinated. So addictive that I had to literally force myself not to eat so much and share with the other people.

Roast Belly of Pork // $28
Pork belly was well-roasted, flavourful and not too tough. The in-house sauce is a good complement of the pork because it further enhances the flavour.

Herb Roasted Seabass // $26
Seabass was soaked with strong herbs flavour and it was relatively soft. The mash was the perfect complement to the fish. A must-try!

Rolled Organic Turkey Breast // $28
This was one of my favourite Christmas dish at Oxwell & Co. Turkey was not too tough and the sauce really matches the meat very well. Cranberry sauce was really good as well, not overly sweet.

Wellington of Chestnuts, Leeks & Spinach // $22
The pastry was really well-baked, with the outer layer very crispy and the inner layer very fluffy. Fillings were mostly veggies but I really liked it. The blue cheese sauce was amazing!

Grass-fed Fillet of Beef // $48
The beef was well-cooked, tender and juicy. I could totally do another plate of this!

Chocolate Mousse Pot // $14
Best way to end a perfect Christmas meal – DESSERT! The chocolate mousse was rich, smooth and chocolately. Raspberry sorbet was light and it balances the heaviness of the chocolate mousse.
