Sweetfish...

Poke, or fish salad, is a traditional Hawaiian cuisine and has over the years grown to become a popular dish among Singaporeans because of its nutritional value. This is especially evident in the rising numbers of Poke stop in Singapore in the recent years. As much as I would love to have poke three times a week, it can be quite taxing on the wallet. Most of the poke places in Singapore are really expensive!

If you are looking for a quick, healthy and affordable poke meal at the CBD area, you are in for a good treat! Located at the basement of Capitol Piazza, Sweetfish is a newly opened poké shop that serves really tasty, refreshing and affordable poké that starts from just $9. The young and ambitious owner, Zac Liu, seeks to remove the exclusivity of fresh premium raw fish and emphasizes that you can get all that goodness along with convenience and affordability.

Hawaiian Original (Available for Tuna/Salmon)
The Hawaiian Original was more savoury (salty) as compared to the other poke at Sweetfish because of the Shoyu base. Sesame oil was added to enhance the overall flavour of the poke bowl. You can also find other Asian garnishes such as edamame, shitake and chukka salad which makes the poke bowl crunchier and more refreshing. The proportion of raw fish in the poke was just right, not too much until it backfires (too jelat).

The raw fish are really fresh and it wasn’t as jelat as what I thought it was going to be. Texture was really good!

Wasabi Mayo (Available for Salmon)
As weird as this combination may sound, it works! The wasabi flavour hits right at the end, giving this extra kick to the poke which makes it extremely addictive. I could probably finish this in less than 10 minutes because it is that good!

Kimchi (Available for Tuna/Octopus)
This is my favourite and bias at Sweetfish. I’m a huge fan of Kimchi and Sweetfish perfectly incorporated the sweet Kimchi into their poke bowl. The flavour was strong yet not too overpowering. I would strongly recommend you getting the octopus because it really goes well with the kimchi poke. Don’t worry, it is not spicy at all! A must-try!

The poke bowls at Sweetfish comes in two sizes: $9 for “Hungry” size & $14 for “Starving” size.
So, if you are working near City Hall and needs to have a quick, healthy yet affordable meal, you can head to Sweetfish to get all these fixed. Thank you Sweetfish for the invitation!
