Old Hen Coffee Bar...

I bet a lot of people are very familiar with Old Hen Coffee Bar because of its Cold Brews which are always appearing on social media. There have been many praises about Old Hen Coffee Bar which explains why they are always so fully occupied. Situated at Rangoon Road, this is one cafe you shouldn't miss.

I have always wanted to try the food and drink at Old Hen but somehow the cafe is always full when I'm there even though I chose to avoid the lunch crowd. (Okay, the cafe is also very small to begin with.) Thanks to the sudden downpour the other day, I finally got myself a table.

Their menu is pretty simple and ordinary, nothing of fanciful and there isn't much variations to their brunch menu which saves you a lot of time on deciding what to eat. In the end, I ordered the Crab Coleslaw Burger (because first it's unique, and second it sounded so tasty), Panna Cotta (I'm a huge fan of desserts), Homemade Waffles (Ladyironchef named it one of the best waffles in Singapore), and of course their Cold Brews.

The food was served pretty quickly, took like less than 20 minutes.

Old Hen Cold Brews // $6.50 per bottle
Hands down, the Dark Cocoa Velvet Brown is way nicer than the Cold Brew Coffee Creamy White. The Creamy White tasted too much like milk to me and I couldn't taste any coffee at all. This would be very popular among milk-lovers or those that prefers decaf coffee. On the other hand, the Velvet Brown was really good. The coffee was soothing to the throat, and it is not too bitter or sweet - definitely what you need to combat Singapore's hot and humid weather.

Crab Coleslaw Burger // $15
This burger is enormous! The first thing that came to my mind when this burger was served onto my table was that "How do I go about tackling(eating) this burger?" I guess the answer would be to eat it like a barbarian. Crab meat and coleslaw are mixed pretty well, and they added some cereal to make the entire burger crunchier. The crab meat is spicy but not that overwhelming (especially for those that cannot take spicy very well).  The sweet potato chips are really crunchy and tasty. Definitely a very thoughtful and healthy dish with many different flavours.

Panna Cotta // $6
I can't believe my eyes when I saw the price of the Panna Cotta on the menu because it was really cheap. You get to satisfy your sweet tooth without burning a huge hole in your pocket. The Panna Cotta comes with Salted Caramel Popcorn and you'll be surprised that these two actually complements one another very well. The popcorn was well-mixed, and it is not too sweet while the panna cotta is smooth and soft. I can have two of this by myself.

Homemade Waffles // $10
Perharps one of the healthiest waffle I've ever come across. You know we always say that waffles and ice cream should come together as one but this dish proves otherwise. The waffles actually tasted really good with the apple compote and greek yogurt sauce. No wonder it is named one of the best waflles in Singapore by Ladyironchef. Definitely one of the dessert you should get if you want to satisfy your tastebuds as well as maintaining your figure.

A pity I didn't get to try their cakes as there wasn't much for me to choose from but I will be back to try their highly raved-about Matcha Raspberry Cake.

If you haven't been to Old Hen, you should drop by one day. A good place to relax yourself, do your work or even chill with your friends.
