Kara Cafe & Dessert Bar...

The team behind Sogurt has recently opened a brand new space – Kara Café & Dessert Bar for all avid café-goers. Situated along Bukit Timah Road, Kara Café & Dessert Bar has an extensive menu that features salads, rice bowls, toasts as well as mochi waffle with yoghurt ice cream at a very affordable price. It is hard to pick a favourite section in the menu because each category has dishes that are worth paying for.

It doesn’t matter if you are a health-enthusiast or not, you will definitely find something that suit your tastebud. So, if you are still looking for a place for brunch this weekend, you might want to visit Kara Café & Dessert Bar for a relaxing meal.

These are some of my favourites at Kara Café & Dessert Bar. I was really quite impressed with their mains since they are supposedly to be good at only desserts.

Strawberry Dream & Tropical Peach Mango Smoothies // $7
The smoothies at Kara are extremely filling. I wouldn’t recommend you slurping too much of it before eating your food. Even before I could eat, I was already quite full from the smoothie. If I had to choose between the two, the Tropical Peach Mango stands out more for me! It was well-mixed and well-blended, with a light mango flavour at the end. Very refreshing especially with Singapore’s hot weather!

Korean Wings // $13
Even though the wings were glazed with honey, it wasn’t overly sweet and has a tangy flavour. It was definitely very crispy and addictive! Highly recommended to get this!

Taco Mexx Chicken // $14
The flavours just popped in this Mexican-inspired grain bowl. You have a little bit of spiciness, sweetness, sourness and saltiness in just one dish and they complemented one another very well. I also liked how they added the crisp corn chips to give an extra crunch to the grain bowl.

Pork Belly Miso // $16
Another popular grain bowl at Kara and one of my favourite dish! The pork belly was well-marinated, tender and juicy. The rice was also super tasty! I can finish this all by myself! They also added Mami (crispy noodle snack) into the grain bowl! Good choice!

Classic Grilled Cheese // $10.50
Simple but very delicious! The melted cheese wasn’t too overpowering and jelat. Sourdough was well-toasted with the slightly burnt area very crispy.

Tempura Fish Kimchi // $16
Another refreshing combination! The fish was well-battered and well-fried, making it very crispy. The zesty kimchi mayo complemented the fish very well, making it so deadly addictive!

Sesame Soba Bowl // $13
If you are looking for a light and healthy dish, you can order this soba! Soba was not too soggy and it paired very well with the other ingredients. Chicken wasn’t too tough! Sesame sauce wasn’t too sweet and the texture was just fine (not too watery nor thick)!

S'mores Sensation // $11.50
You need to share this even if you have a very sweet tooth. It is quite jelat and I think it is impossible to finish this alone. The marshmallows were definitely well-torched to achieve that melty texture and it paired very well with the chocolate. Sinful but calories worth gaining!

Matcha Berry with Lychee Rose Softserve // $12.50
OMG! I get very excited when I see Matcha dessert! Was it really good? Yes, you bet. The matcha flavour was strong, with a subtle bitter aftertaste. Waffle was crispy but a tad dry, but it was okay if you paired it with the maple syrup or softserve. You need to try the Lychee Rose Softserve because it was so legit good that I am salivating when writing this. It was light, refreshing and has a strong floral taste (does not taste artificial at all). One bite and you can’t stop! If you want to try their Matcha Berry, you better go early because it always get sold out in the afternoon!
