Junction 8...

The Great Singapore Sale (GSS) is finally back! That means more shopping and more eating! If you have been to Junction 8 recently, you might have already noticed the sales and promotions that are happening in the mall. They have an insane BHG sales (crowded with people), and Popular is having a fair at the atrium. To be honest, I’m not really a huge fan of shopping but I’m definitely into eating good food. Amidst all the shopping, I believe you also need to take a break in between and fill up your tummy before you have the fuel to continue shopping.

Most restaurants in Junction 8 have already rolled out attractive promotions for the GSS! If you are a seafood-lover, you are in for a treat! I have compiled five places in Junction 8 that serves decent and affordable seafood dishes. The best part, they are all family-friendly! So, let the feast begin!

1) The Manhanttan Fish Market

The Manhattan Fish Market was my favourite hang-out place during my JC days. Food portion was huge and the prices were very student-friendly. We celebrated most of our birthdays here. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at The Manhattan Fish Market and I’m surprised to find out that they are now having a special promotion this GSS! At only $39.95++, you get to enjoy a seafood platter for 2! There is 4 to choose from and it comes with two free drinks and a starter!

UNIT NUMBER: 01-22/30

We got the Manhattan Star Dory Platter and were shocked to see that the platter was actually good for three people if you guys aren’t that hungry.

The prawns were first torched by the staff! So get your camera ready to video it!

The platter was value-for-money. It comes with Fried Oyster, Sotong, Prawns, Dory Fish, Mussels, Rice and Veggies. I wouldn’t say it is out of the world but for the price you are paying, it is quite worth it. The torched prawns with cheese is my favourite out of the all.

2) Central Thai
This is my first time trying Central Thai and I must say the food did impress me! They offer quite an extensive range of Thai food and for the GSS, they are having a special crab promotion at only $40.80++ instead of the usual $68++.

UNIT NUMBER: 01-32

Yes, we got the Singapore’s Chilli Crab! Doesn't it look super delicious?

The Chilli Crab was good for 2-3 people. The sauce was flavourful and spicy (MUST order rice to go with the sauce). I also like how they added minced meat into the sauce which goes very well with rice. The crab was fresh and the meat was sweet. If you don’t like Chilli Crab, they have Salted Egg, Tom Yum and other more! Good deal!

3) Swensen's Singapore
I bet everyone is very familiar with Swensen’s Singapore! Almost every outlet you go, you will see queues outside the restaurant. It is not only family-friendly but also very pocket-friendly! Food is decent as well! My mum really loves the food here, especially the Black Pepper Seafood Pasta which I am going to share now!

UNIT NUMBER: 01-39

The pasta was very aromatic. We could smell it from a distance away. The black pepper flavour was really strong and it opens up your appetite. They were quite generous with the seafood servings here – good amount of clams and fish were given. Pasta was not too soggy. If my picky mum likes this, you’ll probably will too!

4) Pastamania

Where to get your pasta cravings fixed? Definitely at Pastamania! This is my favourite to-go place for decent and affordable pasta since when I was young. Even up till now, I’ll still order them for supper! To celebrate National Day, they have rolled up Laksa Seafood Pasta which is a MUST-TRY!

UNIT NUMBER: 01-37

At only $12.90, the portion is huge. Laksa flavour was really strong and aromatic. I could smell the fragrance from a distance away. The pasta was spicy but I loved the kick. They were also very generous with the amount of mussels they served. Very addictive!
