Oh My Tian...

“Oh My Tian (Oh My God),” will be your first reaction when you stepped into the whimsical and carnival-themed café. You will be greeted with a pair of vintage Chinese door knobs, some rustic tables, fanciful paintings and a carousel. The quirky and interesting concept of the café has also earned them a spot as one of the filming location for the recent Channel 8’s drama series, Fire Up 美味下半.

Located under a residential estate in Boon Keng, Oh My Tian is a laid-back, cosy and fun café that serves a wide range of delectable brunch items as well as desserts at an affordable price. Their new menu which emphasizes on strong Asian flavours would definitely be a hit among the young (kids included) and the old.

In frame, their newest food items - Dory Voyage, Cutlet 101, Greeny Protein, Bonjour Dejeuner and Oeuf Croissant. Also, their in-house milkshakes are refreshing and cooling! Definitely did perk me up in the late afternoon!

Chocolate Caramel & Sea Salt Gula // $8.50

They have quite a few selection of milkshakes for you to choose from (Chocolate Caramel, Sea Salt Gula, Mango Smoothie, Strawberry Sundae, Cookies & Cream Monster) and all of them are price at $8.50 each.

Chocolate Caramel // $8.50

This is one of their newest creations! The milkshake was not as sweet as what I thought it was going to be. The caramel flavour was strong as well!

Sea Salt Gula // $8.50

An interesting mixture of Sea Salt and Gula Melaka! This combination works! I love how it tasted both salty and sweet at the same time!

The Effiel Tower // $6.80

What on earth is this beautiful drink? That came to mind instantly when the server brought the drink to our table. It turns out to be Earl Grey Tea with Caramel Konjac, Jelly and Vanilla Ice Cream. The distinct layer of the drink makes it extremely Instagrammable! It tasted very similar to Bubble Tea but a bit sweeter. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the drink created for you!

Cutlet 101 // $16.90

Taiwanese style marinated chicken thigh and homemade sour plum sauce with curly fries.

Just like what the name of this dish suggests, it does taste like the fried chicken cutlet in Taiwan. The fried chicken was not too oily (does not reek of oil also). It was also tender and juicy. What attracted me most was the flavour of the chicken. It was really well-marinated. Very delicious. A must-try! The portion is really huge by the way!

Oeuf Croissant // $8.90

Croissant infused with salted egg yolk sauce.

Sorry, I didn’t get to take a good shot of the salted egg yolk sauce inside the croissant! This was a bit different from the other salted egg yolk croissant I’ve tried. It was rich, creamy and spicy! You can really see chunks of the chilli and curry leaves in the sauce itself. The croissant was also very crispy.

Greeny Protein // $10.50

Sliced Chicken Breast with Herbs with hard-boiled egg, mixed greens and cherry tomatoes.

Health Freaks will love this. Even though salad isn’t really my cup of tea, this was not too bad because of the dressing. Don’t get me wrong! The salad is actually really tasty but I’m not a big fan of salads (I like cooked vegetables). The dressing was damn addictive! The only problem I had was the chicken. Some were really hard and dry!

Bonjour Dejeuner (All Day) // $13.50

Croissant, Turkey Bacon, Chicken Sausage, Greens & Scrambled Eggs.

Definitely a hearty breakfast! The chicken sausage wasn’t very hard and it was flavourful. The bacon was a tad sweet and could be crispier. The scrambled eggs were not too bad and it wasn’t very milky.

Dory Voyage // $18.90

Beer Battered Charcoal Dory Fish with Thai Chilli Sauce, Salted Egg Yolk Sauce and Curly Fries.
This was probably my favourite dish at Oh My Tian! Contrary to how it looks like, this beer battered charcoal dory fish was well-marinated and very crispy. The meat inside that crispy skin was soft and sweet. Again, the salted egg yolk sauce was rich, creamy and spicy. It definitely complements the fish very well. Trust me, you’ve to order this!

Agar Agar Ramen // $11.90

Jello Ramen, Caramel Konjac Jelly, Creamy Sweet Corn with Peach and Pineapple slices.

To me, this is the combination of Ice Kachang, Jelly and Fruit Salad. The agar agar wasn’t very sweet but the flavour could be stronger. The ice cream was really good though. They put some mango puree on the ice cream itself. Very aromatic and delicious! Interesting concept!

Hot Summer // $5.50

Ice cream wrapped in a Chinese fried bun with assorted sauces to choose from.

The fried bun tasted like Hum Jin Peng! It was crispy but there were parts that were a bit too hard to bite! Ice cream was soft and refreshing and the Mango one is so so tasty!

Thank you Oh My Tian for the wonderful and hearty lunch!
