Chok Chai Mookata...

Mookata is a great way to bond with your families and friends. The warmth that you get from eating Mookata with your loved ones is probably one of the most important reason why so many people still fancy Mookata despite the smoky smell at the end. I could still recall the days where I would spent my time after work with my colleagues at a nearby Mookata restaurant, talking and laughing at our snippets of life over some food and drinks. Those days were the happiest. But one problem with Mookata, at least for me, is that it is either very expensive (and the portion is pathetic even though you paid for so much) or limited (not much variety). It’s hard to find a Mookata place in Singapore that offers a well-balanced in the quality and quantity of its food and drinks at reasonable prices. I know this is too much to ask for and perhaps even difficult to find one that fits the criteria. The closest would probably be Chok Chai Mookata.

Housed under the estate of Ang Mo Kio, Chok Chai Mookata offers a fair range of ingredients at a affordable price. As you can see from the picture, they actually do provide quite an extensive range of ingredients for you to choose from (prawn, hotdog, scallop, crabstick, corn, mushrooms and etc), satisfying both your tummy and your wallet.

They also provide set menus that are value-for-money where it only costs you $28 for a 2-3 pax portion, and $45 for a 4-5 pax portion. Additionally, if you are still hungry, you can order their ala-carte items such as Thai Black Pepper Chicken, Lean Meat and Pork Belly for $3. Beef slices are also available if you are a beef-lover. Thai instant noodles can be added at $1 per portion as well.

All the meats were well-marinated and flavoursome but the broth was the one that caught my attention. I think I drank like 6 bowls worth of soup that day. The sauces were not too bad but I preferred the spicy one because what's a Mookata without a hot sauce right?

Thank you Kai Ting and Ken for the invitation. It was really a very satisfying meal plus there wasn't any BBQ smell on me after the Mookata (Perhaps another reason why you should visit Chok Chai!) Hurry and bring your familes and friends to Chok Chai because there are no GST and Service Charge!
