STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar: Great Singapore Savour...

The team behind STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar has done it again! Perfectly timed with GSS, Bay Hotel's STREET 50 Restaurant & Bar is rolling out Great Singapore Savour where the brand new all-day dining menu is here to impress and perhaps have already win the hearts of many. Accentuating favourite local street food, with amazing twists and styles, and well-presented in palatable small plates, there is a wallet-friendly, shareworthy selection of about 20 (street-)smart treats priced from $7.90 to $12.90. With such cheap trills, you definitely have to bring your families and friends to STREET 50 to enjoy a wide array of local Street Eats that will bound to tantalise your taste buds.

Salted Egg Lava Chicken Breast // $9.90

The salted egg craze hasn't seem to die down yet! New Malaysian Chef Kelvin's signature rendition of chicken breast encased with his homemade salted egg yolk paste is simply amazing! The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! The salted egg yolk, on the other hand, was fragrant, rich and creamy. There wasn't a tinge of jelatness but it was really addictive! It's also a visual treat when you enjoy the sight of salted egg lava trickling down the tender chicken meat roll. Definitely a must-order!

Soft Shell Crab with Salted Egg Dip // $7.90

Another salted egg inspired dish at STREET 50! The soft shell crab was not too bad, quite crispy but I thought there were some parts that were a bit too soggy for me! The salted egg cream was yet again impressive, especially its consistency. It was rich, creamy and flavoursome, further brought out the flavour of the crab! This dish really makes a good bar snack!

Cereal Prawns with Wasabi Dressing // $9.90

I was really excited when they told me I was going to try this because I'm a huge fan of Cereal Prawns and Wasabi. Thankfully, it did not turn out to be a flop and left me disappointed. The prawns were fresh, lightly battered with mild sweet and savoury flavours, leaving no greasy aftertaste. The cereal were well-fried, fragrant and it was not too spicy. Paired with the Wasabi dressing, this dish is what I called "Heavenly!"

Coffee Wings // $7.90

This deep-fried chicken mid joints with chef's homemade Hong Kong style coffee jam, is believed to be the first in Singapore and only available at STREET 50. While coffee connoisseurs will agree that the aroma of coffee elicits good feelings whichever way, this unlikely combination, where the smoky nuances of coffee balances the savoury sweet coating on the chicken wings, is a surprisingly finger-licking good dish for the non-coffee drinkers. Overall, this dish makes a good appetiser!

Shrimp and Egg Plant Sambal // $8.90

This dish is simple but has already captured my heart! The sambal sauce is to die for - it was so fragrant and really goes very well with the brinjals! It was also not too spicy! The brinjals, on the other hand, was tender and not too soggy. The prawns were fresh and crunchy! Adding ikan bilis into the dish further brings out the flavour and texture of the entire dish! Definitely one of my favourite dish at STREET 50!

Oyster Char Kway Teow // $12.90

I guess this is one dish that all Singaporeans are familiar with! STREET 50's rendition of this Oyster Char Kway Teow was not too bad. I could taste the wok hei but I thought more of the oyster sauce could be added to bring out the flavour of the entire dish! The oysters and prawns were fresh and there were really very generous in the serving!

X.O. Scallop & Prawns Fried Rice // $9.90

This dish is wok-fried with generous servings of prawns and scallops and masterfully wrapped in Japanese-style omelette, served omu style. The rice was fragrant and delicious but I thought the omelette was not as nice as the ones we have at a Japanese restaurant. The omelette could be a bit softer and tender!

Claypot Assam Fish Head // $18.90

What! Only $18.90? You must be kidding me! STREET 50 spoils the market by selling their big and delicious Fish Head at only $18.90! The assam base was really good, reminded me of the ones I had in Malaysian. So appetising! The fish was also fresh and tender! Probably the highlight of STREET 50's GSS menu!

Curry Fish Head // $18.90

If you dislike Assam, then the Curry based Fish Head will definitely make your eyes pop! The flavour is strong but not too overempowering! I could easily finish three bowls of rice just by drizzling the curry sauce on my rice!

Dine up to $50 to enjoy complimentary Fresh Coconut Malibu (Fresh young coconut juice with parisienne of mixed fruits, topped with coconut ice cream and served with fresh coconut juice, worth $8.90) and stand a chance to win, during the GSS period from now till 14 August 2016:
