Meet & Melt...

Decked under the estate of Tampines, Meet & Melt is a humble café that offers a wide variety of really delicious-looking desserts ranging from ice cream, waffles, toasts to milkshakes. At first glance, many people would probably be sceptical about the café since the design of the café is simple and minimalistic. But trust me, the story behind Meet & Melt is more heartening than anything else.

The signboard was the first thing that caught my attention. I thought the font they used for the signboard was too simple and perhaps unexpected. Unexpected, in the sense that, it doesn’t suit or match whatever the café was selling. But I was wrong. The signboard turns out to be a gift from a close friend of theirs and up till today, I could still remember what Erin (Daughter of the owner of Meet & Melt) told me, “You never give a friend’s blessing away!” This immediately struck a chord with me because nothing is more important than the support given by your families and friends. I was also very inspired by the idea behind the opening of Meet & Melt. It all started with the owner’s love to cook for his grandchildren. This love can be seen in the preparation process as well as the type of ingredients Erin’s father used in order to ensure that the customer’s taste buds are satisfied. What he wants best for his grandchildren, he also likewise wants best for his customer.

Recently, Meet & Melt added another two new creations to their dessert collection, featuring the Green Tea Toast and the Kinder Bueno Mint Chocolate Milkshake. These two are the best combination I have seen so far, especially during this period of insanely and killing hot weather in Singapore.

Kinder Bueno Mint Chocolate Milkshake // $14.90

You can say it is a bit too pricey for a milkshake, but I would say it is worth the money. First, there are so many ingredients on top of the milkshake such as cookies, biscuits and chocolates. Second, this is definitely not meant for one but for sharing. You can split the cost with 2-3 friends because the portion is too huge. Third, it just tastes too good, particularly refreshing. Like coffee or tea, this milkshake perks me up immediately after sipping it two or three times.  Even though it was sinful (the amount of calories are so high), I just had to finish it.

This would definitely fix your sweet tooth for a long time!

Green Tea Toast // $12.90

How can anyone resist the charm of Green Tea? I can't, for sure! The toast was really good, crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The matcha ice cream was so good, very creamy but not too sweet. I especially like the subtle bitterness aftertaste the ice cream had. This is what a matcha ice cream should tastes like. This is no doubt one of my favourite dessert in Meet & Melt!

Black Charcoal Waffle with Salted Egg Sauce & Salted Egg Ice Cream // $11.90

This has been one of the most popular dessert at Meet & Melt since their opening. The waffle was crispy and the salted egg ice cream & sauce were legit made from real salted egg. I hate it when the salted egg tastes too artificial or I can't taste any salted egg at all. This one was well-balanced, very flavoursome and it doesn't gets jelat after awhile. A must get when you are at Meet & Melt

One of the best charcoal waffle and salted ice cream in Singapore!

Another thing that I found interesting about Meet & Melt is that they feature people's Instagram in their café. So if you want to be featured by Meet & Melt, visit them and upload a picture of anything related to the café and get a chance to appear in their café.

Thank you Meet & Melt and Erin for having me! I really enjoyed the food as well as talking to your family, especially your mum! Also, Meet & Melt is looking at relocating their operation and I looked forward to their new place!
